Parent Sponsored Organizations The Parent Teacher committee (PTC) - a self-governing organization of parent volunteers- has been established this year 2008-2009. Every parent at LPS is considered a member of the PTC The main goal of PTC is encouraging a close relationship between home and the school. Parents are highly encouraged to come during all LPS events and become active volunteers within the school. . - The purpose of the LPS Parents’ Committee (PTC) is to enhance communication, understanding, and support among the administration, faculty, parents, and student body.
- The Committee strives to improve the quality of campus life through programs, activities and fund-raising events that encourage participation and unity within the school community.
Volunteer Opportunities: Parents have many ways to volunteer on or off campus
1. Room Parents: Most of the teachers don’t ask for parents help in the classroom because of the small number of students in the classroom. Prekindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades have part-time volunteers- volunteer who comes once a week to help him since he has 21 students in the class. 2. Classroom opportunities: Parent volunteers help organize events and holiday celebrations, assist with large scale class projects, and chaperone on field trips. 3. School-wide opportunities: LPS also offers many school-wide volunteer opportunities. - Special events - Volunteers offer many services in the school different events organize, provide, food, refreshments, gifts, decorate and clean up during school events such as Iqra Day, the Hajj simulation, Iftar in Ramadan, Eid parties, spelling Bees, and other school activities.
- Prayer time: Parents help the teachers observing the students during prayer in the mosque time since non muslin teachers don’t pray.
- Hospitality: Volunteers help provide refreshments /food for school events or help clean up after.
- PTC Meetings: All parents are invited to attend monthly meetings and to learn about and work on school initiatives.
- Library: Volunteers are trained to assist the librarian by shelving, repairing, and cataloguing books. Volunteers also assist during the book fairs (Islamic Fair and Scholastic Fair)
- Field Day: Volunteers help coordinate and publicize Field
- Day at the end of the academic year.
- Graduation Day: help the event coordinator and LPS staff in organizing the graduation Day.
